Thursday, June 24th, 2010We’re in “Summer mode” here in the Poconos. Most Fly Fishing activity is early mornings or evenings. Very low water conditions persist and hot weather has raised many stream temps into the 70s. Evenings are most productive in the Lehigh below the Dam with fish feeding on the surface. Small spinner patterns, little BWO wets and yellow stoneflies have been productive.

The new Ross Vexsis Fly Reel is one of my favorite new reels for 2009, featuring the usual Ross craftsmanship and dependability. These reels for 2009 have some great new features, not found in many reels at this price. The Vexsis is constructed on lightweight, machined barstock aluminum. Made in the US. Very smooth, adjustable carbon fiber disk drag system, easily changes from left to right hand retrieve without any tools, and very attractive new design. The spool is easily removed but securely held in place by the usual spool release but with a magnetic security feature which holds the spool to the frame.
