Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Fishing has been GREAT! Water levels on the Lehigh, Lackawaxen, Broadheads, Mud Run and other area streams have gotten to a good level and hatches have been excellent. The best part is … the fish are feeding on top! Good Quill Gordon, Blue Quill, Hendrickson hatches have kick started surface feeding.
Best fly patterns locally are:
A.A. Hi Vis Thorax Hendrickson
A.A. Hi Vis Parachute Red Quill
Standard Quill Gordon and Blue Quills
Conehead and Beadhead Wooly Buggers
Rubberlegs Copper Johns
For more information, for local flies or to book a Guide or Instructor, call A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop at 800-443-8119.

SEASON STARTS SATURDAY, APRIL 14

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Trout season starts this weekend! Opening day in Pa. (Northeast) is on April 14th. Weather isn’t that great with rain and snow/sleet for today and Friday. High temps are only in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s and 30s. This rain/snow and low air temps may make for a tough week ahead. Early season favorite flies are:
Beadhead prince, hare’s ear and pheasant tails, blue quills, hendricksons, march browns and some caddis. Weighted Wooly Buggers, Super Buggers and streamers will definitely be recommended if the fish are down deep because of the cold temps. Visit A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop for all your Fly Fishing needs at www.aaoutfitters.com Or call A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop at 800-443-8119.

FISHING CONDITIONS - POCONOS, PA.

Friday, March 16th, 2007

March 16, 2007. Another setback this weekend. We closed early Friday, due to snow. There’s a state of emergency here., which means driving on the roads is illegal! So, with the 12 to 18 inches of snow we’re getting, not much emphasis is on fishing. However, it’s a good time to get out the gear, check your fly lines, leaders, tippet, clean-up the reels and see what you need for the season. We’re stocked to the gills with new Sage and Winston Rods, Scientific Anglers and Rio Fly Lines, Simms wafers and clothing, Simms Boots, action Optics Sunglasses, leaders, tippet, C&F fly Boxes, Renzetti Vises and more. Our Fly bins are filling up and we should be completely stocked with early season flies within the next week or two. Stop by A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop or give us a call 800-443-8119.

Poconos Fishing Conditions - 10-24-06

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

IT IS COLD! Got to the Shop this morning and the outside temp was 34 degrees! We’re in a cold snap for sure with not much relief in sight short term. Cold weather and water temps don’t make the fish very active. Highs expected only in the 40s for the next few days. There have been fall stockings, however, so opportinities are there. Fish beadhead nymphs like Pheasant Tails, Hares Ears, Prince or wooly buggers. See A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop at www.aaoutfitters.com for some great end of year closeout SPECIALS.

LATEST FISHING CONDITIONS 8-30-06

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Lots of rain! We got a few inches of rain yesterday and the day before. Expecting more on the weekend from what’s left of Tropical Storm Ernesto. Thursday or Friday morning would be best bet weather/water wise for fishing the next week if we get much rain as predicted this weekend. Susquehanna Smallmouth wading is pretty much out of the question with River Levels much too high right now.
Check out our SPECIALS at A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop online catalog at www.aaoutfitters.com There should be another update early in September with more Closeout Specials.
