Fishing Conditions for the Poconos 7-25-08

Friday, July 25th, 2008

We received some much-needed rainfall in the past few days. In spots 1.5 to 4 inches of rain! This is great. The Trout streams have come up a bit and water temperatures have cooled off. Cooler temps both at night and during the day (52 degrees last night) and increased water flows are the general conditions for area streams. This is a great time to get out there and fish the Poconos.

Susquehanna Smallmouth Fishing 7-25-08

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Well, the Susquehanna is running high because of recent rains. This will make wading about impossible for awhile. However, the White Flies have started and the Smallmouths are eating them. Fish are along the shore , feeding in the evenings. If you find the right spot, you won’t even have to step in the water and you might catch a bunch of fish!

PRODUCT REVIEW – SIMMS RIVER SANDALS

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Had a good chance to wear the Simms River Sandals for 2 seasons of Smallmouth Fishing and Small Stream Brook Trout fishing. These things are great. Good traction sole on dry and wet surfaces and of course, in the water. Pretty good support for a sandal and well made. Comfort level is very good as I have put some miles on these sandals. The adjustable straps give almost a custom fit and keep much of the stones and debris out of the sandal. I wear a thin liner sock or Simms Wet Wading Socks with these to help keep gravel out of the shoe. Overall these are extremely good for wet0wading. Highly recommended. Call or stop in A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop. Phone 8700-443-8119.

SUSQUEHANNA RIVER SMALLMOUTH FISHING 7-11-08

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass on the Susquehanna River is pretty darn good right now! We were out last night and both myself and a fishing buddy caught over a dozen decent fish each in a couple of hours, all on small poppers. The water is nice and low and the temperature is just right. Good fun.
