BELLINGER NICKEL SILVER FLY REELS

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

A.A. Outfitters currently has, in stock, some of the first made, 2008 model Bellinger Nickel Silver Fly Reels as of 6-24-08. In stock at this time are:
3″ CLASSIC NICKEL SILVER 2008 MODEL FLY REEL
3″ CLASSIC NICKEL SILVER WIDE 2008 MODEL FLY REEL
These are among the first 10 of these reels made. My understanding, as told by Al Bellinger, is that there may only be around 60 of these reels produced. Obviously, very limited supply of these reels. Price is $1395.00.

Product Review – Sage Z Axis 10 weight fly rod

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I had a chance to use the Sage 1090-4 Z Axis Fly Rod this past weekend for Stripers in Massachusetts. Very Nice! I matched the rod with a 400 grain full sink Streamer Express and a Lamson Litespeed 4 Reel. Seemed about right for this rod. The rod was great. Easy to cast, fast enough and a good feel for the line at all distances. We used flies in about the 2/0 to 3/0 hook size range and the rod casted these with ease. A very light feeling rod and our guide for the weekend was impressed, asking what weight the rod was, surprised that it was a 10 weight!
I caught about 25 Stripers ranging from around 18 to 28 inches in length and the rod was also great for fighting these fish. See these and cast these rods at A.A. Outfitters Fly Shop in Blakeslee, Pa. Give us a call at 800-43-8119 or visit online at www.aaoutfitters.com

Susquehanna River Smallmouth Fishing

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

We’ll be hitting the Susquehanna River for Smallmouth Bass within the next few weeks as the River is nice and low and wading conditions are good. Normally the Smallmouth fishing with the Fly Rod really picks-up around July 1. We may start early this year as the water is unseasonably low and warm. Check in with A.A. Outfitters by stopping in the shop in Blakeslee or call 570-643-8000 for fishing updates.

Pocono Streams Fishing Conditions 6-5-08

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Fisahing has been very good here in the Poconos. The Lehigh River and its tribs, Lackawaxen, Delaware, Broadheads have been very good, along with most other area rivers. Good water levels and temperatures due to occasional rain and warm/cool weather have been beneficial.
Hatches:
Sulphurs, March Browns, Caddis, BWO.
The Susquehanna River is at a good level for early June. Water there is low and clear, although a little cool for the Fly Rod. We’re hoping water conditions stay the same and fish it in a few weeks.
Stop by A.A. Outfitters here in the Poconos or call us at 800-443-8119 for more information.
